Capturing A Signature Painterly Look
A fine-art portrait photograph is not a candid shot, but rather a carefully planned out image. When working with a fine art portrait photographer, you will learn the intricate process behind each photo taken. I have been working in fine art portrait photography for several years now, refining my skills and mastering the painterly technique.
The inspiration for the fine art sessions comes to me from old painting masters and their paintings from centuries ago. I start out with a concept, an idea or a vision for the fine art photography session. Then we start preparing the outfit, the props as well as lighting setup for a most successful shoot. Make-up and hair has an integral role to bring this vision to life and for this reason my fine-art sessions include hair and makeup for female clients over the age of 12. For younger girls, makeup is not needed but hair styling is included.
This session is done in an indoor space and I use hand painted backdrops that put the spotlight on the subject. During my fine-art sessions, I focus on the client’s eyes as that is where the essence of a fine-art portrait lies.
Every artist has an individual style of photography as well as editing. I’ve spent a few years perfecting my editing style, and still working on it. With the help of amazing editing tools and software, I’m able to give my portraits that signature painterly look.
